Week 11. The final hardware and software integration followed by a full bench test of the completed project.
Overall, the project has been well paced and relatively straight forward with regards to implementing everything that has been learned throughout the course of the semester.
The code is finally complete after quite a bit of trial and error. There was plenty of unexpected issues throughout the process. Both hardware and software problems.
The tasks for week 9 involved the completion of the Sensor Control Board and the final soldering of its components.
The tasks for week 8 including testing the LCD display code and completion of software bench test.
Due to technical issues with the SMT machine, this task could not be done.
Instead, work continued on the development of the software and on more testing on the sensor control board.
The task for week 6 was to solder the components onto the LCD display board.
The task for week 5 was to develop an algorithm for both the temperature reading and also for the LCD display mode settings.
Prior to completing the PCB design, i found that changing the colour of the power and ground tracks helped significantly in the pursuit of a smaller circuit design, as this resulted in a much more detailed visual design aid.
The final designs for the PCB were easily the most difficult and time consuming part of the entire project to date, the main issues encountered were trying to complete the ground plane on PIN 4 of Connector 1. I had several redesigns before finally managing to find a path through.
The tasks for week 4 included, designing of the Sensor Control Board PCB,
and the submission of the final LCD artwork and Sensor/Control Schematic as well as the calculation of the sensor boards resistor value, R1.
